Incontestable

Sura 69 52 verses Revelation order 78 الحاقة

They Should Have Said: "God Willing."

  1. بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

    In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
  2. الحاقَّةُ

    The incontestable (event).

    What an incontestable (event)!

  4. وَما أَدرىٰكَ مَا الحاقَّةُ

    It is truly incontestable.

  5. كَذَّبَت ثَمودُ وَعادٌ بِالقارِعَةِ

    Thamoud and 'Ãd disbelieved in the Shocker.

  6. فَأَمّا ثَمودُ فَأُهلِكوا بِالطّاغِيَةِ

    As for Thamoud, they were annihilated by the devastating (quake).

  7. وَأَمّا عادٌ فَأُهلِكوا بِريحٍ صَرصَرٍ عاتِيَةٍ

    As for 'Ãd, they were annihilated by a persistent, violent storm.

  8. سَخَّرَها عَلَيهِم سَبعَ لَيالٍ وَثَمٰنِيَةَ أَيّامٍ حُسومًا فَتَرَى القَومَ فيها صَرعىٰ كَأَنَّهُم أَعجازُ نَخلٍ خاوِيَةٍ

    He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, violently. You could see the people tossed around like decayed palm trunks.

  9. فَهَل تَرىٰ لَهُم مِن باقِيَةٍ

    Can you find any trace of them?

  10. وَجاءَ فِرعَونُ وَمَن قَبلَهُ وَالمُؤتَفِكٰتُ بِالخاطِئَةِ

    Pharaoh, others before him, and the sinners (of Sodom) were wicked.

  11. فَعَصَوا رَسولَ رَبِّهِم فَأَخَذَهُم أَخذَةً رابِيَةً

    They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord. Consequently, He requited them a devastating requital.

  12. إِنّا لَمّا طَغَا الماءُ حَمَلنٰكُم فِى الجارِيَةِ

    The flood was devastating, so we carried you on the floating (ark).

  13. لِنَجعَلَها لَكُم تَذكِرَةً وَتَعِيَها أُذُنٌ وٰعِيَةٌ

    We rendered it a lesson for you, that any listening ear may understand.

  14. فَإِذا نُفِخَ فِى الصّورِ نَفخَةٌ وٰحِدَةٌ

    When the horn is blown once.

  15. وَحُمِلَتِ الأَرضُ وَالجِبالُ فَدُكَّتا دَكَّةً وٰحِدَةً

    The earth and the mountains will be carried off and crushed; utterly crushed.

  16. فَيَومَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الواقِعَةُ

    That is the day when the inevitable event will come to pass.

  17. وَانشَقَّتِ السَّماءُ فَهِىَ يَومَئِذٍ واهِيَةٌ

    The heaven will crack, and fall apart.

  18. وَالمَلَكُ عَلىٰ أَرجائِها ۚ وَيَحمِلُ عَرشَ رَبِّكَ فَوقَهُم يَومَئِذٍ ثَمٰنِيَةٌ

    The angels will be all around, and Your Lord's dominion will then encompass eight (universes).*

  19. يَومَئِذٍ تُعرَضونَ لا تَخفىٰ مِنكُم خافِيَةٌ

    On that day, you will be exposed, nothing of you can be hidden.

The Believers

  1. فَأَمّا مَن أوتِىَ كِتٰبَهُ بِيَمينِهِ فَيَقولُ هاؤُمُ اقرَءوا كِتٰبِيَه

    As for the one who receives his record with his right hand, he will say, "Come read my record.

  2. إِنّى ظَنَنتُ أَنّى مُلٰقٍ حِسابِيَه

    "I did believe that I was going to be held accountable."

  3. فَهُوَ فى عيشَةٍ راضِيَةٍ

    He has deserved a happy life.

  4. فى جَنَّةٍ عالِيَةٍ

  5. قُطوفُها دانِيَةٌ

    Its fruits are within reach.

  6. كُلوا وَاشرَبوا هَنيـًٔا بِما أَسلَفتُم فِى الأَيّامِ الخالِيَةِ

    Eat and drink happily in return for your works in days past.

The Disbelievers

  1. وَأَمّا مَن أوتِىَ كِتٰبَهُ بِشِمالِهِ فَيَقولُ يٰلَيتَنى لَم أوتَ كِتٰبِيَه

    As for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I never received my record.

  2. وَلَم أَدرِ ما حِسابِيَه

    "I wish I never knew my account.

  3. يٰلَيتَها كانَتِ القاضِيَةَ

    "I wish my death was eternal.

  4. ما أَغنىٰ عَنّى مالِيَه ۜ

    "My money cannot help me.

  5. هَلَكَ عَنّى سُلطٰنِيَه

    "All my power is gone."

  6. خُذوهُ فَغُلّوهُ

    Take him and shackle him.

  7. ثُمَّ الجَحيمَ صَلّوهُ

    Burn him in Hell.
  8. ثُمَّ فى سِلسِلَةٍ ذَرعُها سَبعونَ ذِراعًا فَاسلُكوهُ

    In a chain that is seventy arms long, tie him up.

  9. إِنَّهُ كانَ لا يُؤمِنُ بِاللَّهِ العَظيمِ

    For he did not believe in GOD, Most Great.

  10. وَلا يَحُضُّ عَلىٰ طَعامِ المِسكينِ

    Nor did he advocate the feeding of the poor.

  11. فَلَيسَ لَهُ اليَومَ هٰهُنا حَميمٌ

    Consequently, he has no friend here.

  12. وَلا طَعامٌ إِلّا مِن غِسلينٍ

    Nor any food, except the bitter variety.

  13. لا يَأكُلُهُ إِلَّا الخٰطِـٔونَ

    Food for the sinners.

  14. فَلا أُقسِمُ بِما تُبصِرونَ

    I swear by what you see.

    And what you do not see.

  16. إِنَّهُ لَقَولُ رَسولٍ كَريمٍ

  17. وَما هُوَ بِقَولِ شاعِرٍ ۚ قَليلًا ما تُؤمِنونَ

    Not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe.

  18. وَلا بِقَولِ كاهِنٍ ۚ قَليلًا ما تَذَكَّرونَ

    Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed.

  19. تَنزيلٌ مِن رَبِّ العٰلَمينَ

    A revelation from the Lord of the universe.

Muhammad Forbidden from Issuing Any Religious Teachings

  1. وَلَو تَقَوَّلَ عَلَينا بَعضَ الأَقاويلِ

  2. لَأَخَذنا مِنهُ بِاليَمينِ

  3. ثُمَّ لَقَطَعنا مِنهُ الوَتينَ

    We would have stopped the revelations to him.

  4. فَما مِنكُم مِن أَحَدٍ عَنهُ حٰجِزينَ

  5. وَإِنَّهُ لَتَذكِرَةٌ لِلمُتَّقينَ

    This is a reminder for the righteous.

  6. وَإِنّا لَنَعلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُكَذِّبينَ

    We know; some of you are rejectors.

  7. وَإِنَّهُ لَحَسرَةٌ عَلَى الكٰفِرينَ

    It is but sorrow for the disbelievers.

  8. وَإِنَّهُ لَحَقُّ اليَقينِ

    It is the absolute truth.

  9. فَسَبِّح بِاسمِ رَبِّكَ العَظيمِ

    Therefore, you shall glorify the name of your Lord, Most Great.
