The Cheaters

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful -
وَيلٌ لِلمُطَفِّفينَ
Woe to the cheaters.1

الَّذينَ إِذَا اكتالوا عَلَى النّاسِ يَستَوفونَ
Who demand full measure when receiving from the people.1

وَإِذا كالوهُم أَو وَزَنوهُم يُخسِرونَ
But when giving them the measures or weights, they cheat.3

أَلا يَظُنُّ أُولٰئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَبعوثونَ
Do they not know that they will be resurrected?1

لِيَومٍ عَظيمٍ
On a tremendous day? -
يَومَ يَقومُ النّاسُ لِرَبِّ العٰلَمينَ
That is the day when all people will stand before the Lord of the universe.1

كَلّا إِنَّ كِتٰبَ الفُجّارِ لَفى سِجّينٍ
Indeed, the book of the wicked is in Sijjeen.4
-
وَما أَدرىٰكَ ما سِجّينٌ
Do you know what Sijjeen is?2

كِتٰبٌ مَرقومٌ
A numerically structured book. -
وَيلٌ يَومَئِذٍ لِلمُكَذِّبينَ
Woe on that day to the rejectors.1

They do not believe in the Day of Judgment.2

وَما يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلّا كُلُّ مُعتَدٍ أَثيمٍ
None disbelieves therein except the transgressor, the sinful.1

إِذا تُتلىٰ عَلَيهِ ءايٰتُنا قالَ أَسٰطيرُ الأَوَّلينَ
When our revelations are recited to him, he says, "Tales from the past!"1

كَلّا ۖ بَل ۜ رانَ عَلىٰ قُلوبِهِم ما كانوا يَكسِبونَ
Indeed, their hearts have become shielded by their sins.3
-
كَلّا إِنَّهُم عَن رَبِّهِم يَومَئِذٍ لَمَحجوبونَ
Indeed, they will be isolated, on that day, from their Lord.1

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُم لَصالُوا الجَحيمِ
Then they will be thrown into Hell. -
ثُمَّ يُقالُ هٰذَا الَّذى كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبونَ
They will be told, "This is what you used to deny." -
كَلّا إِنَّ كِتٰبَ الأَبرارِ لَفى عِلِّيّينَ
Indeed, the book of the righteous will be in 'Elleyyeen.2

يَشهَدُهُ المُقَرَّبونَ
To be witnessed by those close to Me.1

The righteous have deserved bliss.1

On luxurious furnishings they watch.2

تَعرِفُ فى وُجوهِهِم نَضرَةَ النَّعيمِ
You recognize in their faces the joy of bliss.3

يُسقَونَ مِن رَحيقٍ مَختومٍ
Their drinks will be spiced with nectar.3

خِتٰمُهُ مِسكٌ ۚ وَفى ذٰلِكَ فَليَتَنافَسِ المُتَنٰفِسونَ
Its spice is like musk. This is what the competitors should compete for. -
وَمِزاجُهُ مِن تَسنيمٍ
Mixed into it will be special flavors.1

عَينًا يَشرَبُ بِهَا المُقَرَّبونَ
From a spring that is reserved for those close to Me.3

إِنَّ الَّذينَ أَجرَموا كانوا مِنَ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا يَضحَكونَ
The wicked used to laugh at those who believed.1

When they passed by them, they used to poke fun.1

وَإِذَا انقَلَبوا إِلىٰ أَهلِهِمُ انقَلَبوا فَكِهينَ
When they got together with their people, they used to joke.2

وَإِذا رَأَوهُم قالوا إِنَّ هٰؤُلاءِ لَضالّونَ
Whenever they saw them, they said, "These people are far astray! -
وَما أُرسِلوا عَلَيهِم حٰفِظينَ
"They have no such thing as (invisible) guards."1

Today, those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers.1
